MY BURKET LINEAGE

My grandmother was Edith Burket b. 1896, daughter of
John Levi Cyrus, son of Christian and Matilda Gull, who's father Rev War Soldier Christopher Burket, wife Mary Ann Ross. Israel was her great great grandfather.

In the earliest generations I often found the name spelled: BURGET. The next generation spelled it: _____ than it seemed to pick up an extra T, for some, in later generations.

Stoney Creek Twp.
Shade was formed form the N. part of Stoney Creek in 1814 and incorp. 1816 So Shade Twp was established after Israel was already deceased (1804). Shade Twp border's Bedford Co.
The early records of Israel state Stoney Creek Twp and Quehmahoning.

Christopher Sr. lived in Shade Twp.

Christian Jr. and Matilda lived in Shade Twp before Matilda purchased in 1849, 419 acres of land that was warrantied in the name of John LING. This land bordered Peter Rhoads, Francis Suhre and other's in Allegheny Twp, Somerset Co., PA. So Christian and his first wife and 4 kids PROBABLY lived in Shade Twp. More research needed.

Burket land leading up to the Daley Cemetery is now part of the State Game land number #228
I called the appropriate departments but they said that game land #228 was made up various land acquistions and that I would need to reach another department to see if they could answer my question. Which Burket was it that owned the land which is now part of the game land? Ms. Landis told me this when I was visiting her and she said she just couldn't remember what Burket it was.
