Cyrus's first wife was: Is that photo of a man with his family, actually John and his first wife?
Maybe, someone would recognize the women?
Or is it of a second wife? Family legend and Schellsburg seems to say so, but is that stone inscription an error? It's certainly not his last wife, my great grandmother Sarah.
Sarah Louise Oyler b. 02 Feb 1848 d. 16 Feb 1871. I took me 4 yrs to FINALLY figure out her maiden name. Walter's descendents that I corresponded with, did not have a record of her maiden name. Upon finding the information, I did send an e-mail to Deb Burket and Cynthia but Cynthia's e-mail was no longer valid and came back.
Cyrus went to Sharpsburg, MD with Jonas Shultz to become his replacement but since he was cross eyed and near sighted, they never mustered him into CO D 133rd. He spent 35 days with the Company at Antietam, he was refused as Shultz's replacement. Shultz deserted and Cyrus returned home.

Buried in the Husband Cemetery. I've been there twice and didn't see a grave but there was a person buried at the foot of his grandparents, the Whipkey's. I wrote to this cemetery but never got a response.
